Western Colorado University is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Head Cheerleading Coach for the start-up and development of a competitive cheer/dance program within the guidelines of the NCAA, RMAC and Western Colorado University. This is a full-time, twelve-month position with an initial income range between $35,000 and $40,000. tasks: Organizing and administering all aspects of the Western Colorado University Cheer/Dance program including but not limited to oversight of: recruiting qualified student-athletes; training and preparing student athletes, teaching sport-specific expertise, tactics, and philosophy. Must have proven administrative, organizational and recruiting expertise. Applicant must demonstrate capability to travel out of town for extended periods while working nights and weekends The Head Cheerleading Coach will schedule and direct practices for both in-season and in the off-season; coaching athletes in practice and competitions; foster and support student-athlete welfare; ensuring that current student athletes are making satisfactory academic progress by monitoring grades of individuals and the team, establish and coordinate study halls, and provide mentors. Administrative tasks include creating program budget, managing programs fiscal budget, monitoring expenses within budgeted parameters; creating competition and practice schedules for the season, establishing itineraries and making travel arrangements, developing and managing all facets of cheer/dance camps, and cultivating alumni. The Head Cheerleading Coach will also be the liaison with community groups and student body to encourage and foster participation in athletic activities and events. This position will also have direct involvement in athletic department specific fundraising. Help assist in half-time promotional events and programing for Football, Volleyball, Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Basketball and Wrestling. capability to establish good rapport and relationships with players, administrators, staff, alumni, and general public is necessary. Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of three years cheer/dance coaching practice preferred. Must have current certification or capability to obtain certification in First Aid / CPR / AED. Must have a valid driver's license.
