Description: Reporting to the adjunct Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs, the Director for Annual Giving is responsible for development, planning and implementation of all annual giving programs, campaigns, and appeals to raise private funds in support of The Fund for Hofstra University. This individual is responsible for fostering a culture of philanthropy with alumni, parents, staff/faculty, friends, and students. This Director supervises an adjunct Director for Annual Giving.

Specific responsibilities include: creation of annual plan for all annual giving communications, design, manage and steward all direct mail efforts including the creation and segmentation of all mailings as well as electronic solicitations; perform deep analysis of donors and non-donors on a regular basis as well as return and profit analysis of mailings; manage the execution of the annual printed Honor Roll of Donors; create an annual plan to rain all annual donors and plan strategy for solicitation and accrual of new donors - particularly focused on Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD).

This position works closely with the major gift office staff as well as the Alumni Affairs team. The Director will be responsible for a personal portfolio of prospects and will be expected to meet annual dollar and meeting goals. This position performs other related tasks as assigned as well as requires some evening and weekend hours in support of special projects and events.

Appropriate qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Four to six years fundraising practice with increased responsibility, and proven track record of prosperously managed direct mail or similar program. A proactive self-starter who is comfortable in a fast-paced collaborative environment. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational expertise required and the capability to work independently and in a team environment is expected. Above average computer expertise and practice including: familiarity with web page editing and updating, an excellent command of the Windows environment including proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office Suite including Access, mail merges, and database management and analysis. SCT Banner practice preferred.
