LEGAL STUDIES & SOCIAL WORK INSTRUCTOR - (position begins August 2019) – to teach undergraduate courses, advise students, and participate in department/college activities in an ABA approved Paralegal (Legal Studies) Program and a Social Work Program accredited by the Council for Social Work Education. The Criminal Justice, Legal Studies & Social Work Department offers four Legal Studies degrees: a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a legal studies concentration, Associate of Science degree in Legal adjunct degree, a Legal adjunct Certificate, a Minor in Legal Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following courses: Conflict Management, Selected Topics in Peace & Conflict Resolution, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Restorative Justice and teaching courses in Legal Studies and Social Work if qualified to teach Social Work courses. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining compliance with ABA guidelines, scholarship, and professional development related to the teaching of and practice of legal studies; advising students; providing departmental/university/community service. REQUIRED: A J.D. is required for this position. PREFERRED: A J.D. and a LCSW is preferred for this position. A post-graduate degree in Social Work with two years significant practice in practicing law and/or in conflict management. On-line and traditional teaching practice is highly recommended.
