Position Summary

The College of Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy & Therapeutics Clinical Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE ), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

Drug Use Research and Management ( DURM ) program has an intergovernmental agreement with the Oregon Health Authority ( OHA ) – Health Policy and Analytics ( HPA ) Division to provide professional pharmacist support for the administration of pharmacy programs of the Oregon Medicaid program. This agreement furthers the university’s mission by providing service and research to benefit the citizens of Oregon by promoting high quality cost-effective drug therapy to Medicaid patients.

This position serves as the clinical co-lead for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee for OHA under the agreement, and depending on location will report to the DURM Director or the DURM Program Manager.

This position can be located in Salem OR Portland, Oregon.

Position tasks

58% TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE / EXTENSION :
Coordinate and provide oversight for P&T Committee. Assign drug reviews to other DURM staff. Review and edit draft reports. Attend meetings to provide pharmacist professional support to OHA , P&T Committee, HERC and others related to the intergovernmental agreement. Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations. Locate, evaluate, and provide medical literature to committee members as necessary. Assist with the development and maintenance of the OHA preferred drug list ( PDL ). Assist with the development and implementation of drug use policies. Evaluate current policies, identify pharmacy educational opportunities, and develop new or revised pharmacy initiatives. Assist with Medicaid provider and pharmacy educational interventions. Assist with oversight of claims processing coding and specification. Develop P&T Committee agendas and assist with coordinating work of OSU staff. Maintain the process of tracking new drugs, new indication approvals, and new clinical guidelines. Assess, maintain, and improve processes to ensure P&T reports and reviews are of high quality.

40% ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION :
Provide research and development of reports for the P&T Committee. Provide research and reporting on new drug products. Conducts drug use evaluations. Provide analysis and reporting on drug use patterns and trends. Provide reporting of the impact of implemented/proposed drug use policies. Provide research, analysis, development, revision, and reporting of drug use criteria. Provide research and development of reports for the OHA and the Health Evidence Review Commission ( HERC ).

2% TRAINING :
Attend conferences, educational seminars, or undertake other activities to upgrade professional expertise related to activities of the inter-governmental agreement.

Minimum/Required Qualifications
   » Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D).
   » Current registered Pharmacist’s license issued by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy OR eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in Oregon and obtained within 6 months of hire date.
   » Evidence of well-developed medical literature search and evaluation expertise.
   » Advanced expertise of evidence-located methods.
   » significant residency or fellowship training or two or more years significant professional practice.
   » practice developing reports and reviews for P&T Committees and formulary management.
   » Evidence of creativity and self-motivation are required.
   » Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication expertise.
   » Must have excellent interpersonal expertise.
   » Must have excellent organizational expertise with capability to track and prioritize P&T Committee Work.
   » This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
