Position Summary:
The Southern District is seeking applications for an Extension Educator, adjunct or Associate, with an emphasis on 4-H Youth Development.
The Educator will provide leadership abilities, instruction and support for 4-H Youth Development programs focusing on underserved and minority audiences in Ada/Canyon and surrounding Counties, with Latino youth and adults being the primary target audiences. The Extension Faculty member will plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report 4-H Youth Development programs (100%) with an emphasis on 4-H science and life expertise programming. The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate.
Outreach & Extension - Develop and enhance an effective, educational, results-oriented 4-H Youth Development Program that supports the growth and development of life expertise among both youth and adult minority and underserved audiences. Work collectively with other Extension Faculty to develop, implement, evaluate and report impacts of non-credit educational programming in youth development for youth and adult audiences. Provide leadership abilities for adult and youth volunteer programs including volunteer recruitment, selection, orientation, education and training, motivation, evaluation, recognition and support. Prepare volunteers to take on increasing leadership abilities, management, and public education/information delivery functions in support of 4-H Youth Development programs. Develop and conduct effective educational programs that support the growth and development of life expertise among both youth and adult audiences; train others to effectively deliver programming and to support the development of youth and adult participants. Work effectively as a member of the Southern District 4-H team providing leadership abilities as appropriate. Actively participate with other district 4-H and Extension teams; share outreach models, lessons learned and best practices all over the organization. Provide leadership abilities and support for engaging stakeholders through various 4-H Youth Development advisory councils and committees in the work of identifying priority youth development needs and covering them through effective and innovative plans of work. Develop strong working relationship with local Extension staff, university staff, local schools, county departments, community leaders, agencies and institutions to enhance local youth development programming. Faculty member will be expected to travel to conduct educational programs that may occur outside of typical office hours (evenings and weekends) to meet clientele needs.
Scholarship & Creative Activities - Secure external funding and recruit and develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets.
University Service & leadership abilities - Serve on University, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Extension, district and community committees, boards and working groups as appropriate.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

Masters degree related to education or youth development is required by date of hire.

expertise of Hispanic culture and capability to communicate in Spanish, both verbally and written.

Demonstrated competency in people-related expertise such as teaching, problem solving, communication, conflict management, relationship building and leadership abilities development.

capability to work well in a team, provide effective leadership abilities

capability to communicate (verbal, written, listening, public speaking/presentation expertise).

capability to recruit, teach, and manage volunteers.

Computer literacy as demonstrated by the use of technology in programming.

Must meet the requirements for the rank of adjunct and/or Associate Professor at the time of hire.

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

Extension practice in 4-H Youth Development, or applicable professional practice. Spanish speaking candidates with previous practice working with Latino youth and adult audiences are preferred.

Demonstrated capability to design innovative and effective educational programs in response to local needs; implement programs and evaluate their effectiveness.

Demonstrated practice working directly with diverse youth and adult audiences and practice partnering with community organizations to provide educational practices to diverse youth audiences.

practice in fund raising, grantsmanship, and cost recovery efforts.

Demonstrated capability to effectively use social and print media for marketing and promoting programs.
