Programs include early childhood education through the Northeast Child Development Center; Youth Development at four school-located and two community-located locations; Menlo Park Academy, a Minneapolis Public Schools alternative high school; Camp Bovey, a summer camp in Wisconsin for urban youth; targeted Employment and Training for youth, adults, and elders; our Family Healing Program, which combats domestic violence; Empowering Vital Aging, a suite of programs which helps older adults to live well at home; and Metro Food Programs, which assist those who may have difficulty accessing traditional food shelves or grocery stores.

Primary tasks:

Broad Scope and Function of Job:The Youth Program Manager is responsible for the overall administration of a school-located Out-of-School Time program serving approximately 30-50 youth in 6th-12th grade each day (around 100 each week) at Venture Academy. Directly supervises a staff, volunteers and interns. Works closely with the school administration and other community-located support programs outside of the school. The Program Manager coordinates and supervises program operations to ensure individual academic and emotional growth and support developmental assets of youth through research-located programming, using a holistic approach that is trauma-informed and strengths-located. Provides support to students and staff by actively participating in family engagement events and helping to mobilize applicable resources to students in need.Located in SE Minneapolis, Venture Academy is currently in its sixth year as a charter school. East Side began its partnership with Venture Academy in 2014. Venture helps to grow the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders, self-propelled students who know how to imagine new opportunities, take initiative and risks, and solve problems. Venture serves students residing primarily in north and south Minneapolis, with many students receiving ELL services and almost all students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. The Youth Program Manager meets a minimum of twice a year with the principal to discuss strengths and areas for improvement of our partnership and explore new opportunities.This position is a nonprofit employee, working off-site in a school-located setting. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in conjunction with two different agencies and finding balance between the needs of a nonprofit agency and charter school environment.Major Job Job responsibilities:Is responsible for, but not limited to the following functions:Program Development:•Provides day-to-day supervision of program operations of the Out-of-School Time program, parent events, and a full-day summer program designed to increase academic success, build character and leadership abilities, increase 21st Century expertise and build positive relationships with students.•Manages and coordinates staffing, and supports staff in the delivery of direct services to youth and families and provide back up as necessary. •Responsible for tracking participation, collecting evaluative data, and assisting Youth Department adjunct Director of OST in program proposals and reports.•Offers consistent on-going supportive relationships to students and their families.•Creates program structure and offerings for students in collaboration with school day and after school staff and actively works with school staff and principal to assess student needs and appropriate interventions.Parents and Community:•Develops and implements procedures and activities to increase parent involvement in the student's education, including family nights and program volunteer opportunities.•Initiates and supports relationships with community-located partner organizations to expand after-school offerings at program site.•Forms and maintains collaborations with school staff and other youth serving agencies in the community.Staff Supervision:•supervises hiring, development, and supervision for program staff, interns, and volunteers to ensure that all youth work is in conformity with ESNS agency, MPS, departmental policies, procedures, and guiding principles. •Assists in training of interns, volunteers and youth aides to ensure that each work in conformity with established professional conduct and procedures, demonstrate an capability to work age-appropriately with students.Administrative tasks:•Prepares and maintains accurate records that ensure the privacy and confidentiality of program participants and their families.•Responsible for completing quarterly reports and participate in Continuous Improvement Process.•Meets with collaborative community groups and East Side Youth Team to report progress, discuss issues and give/receive support.•Attends managery meetings.•Attends other school meetings as assigned by school administration team.Professional Development:•Participates in workshops, classes, and self-directed study to develop professional expertise and competencies commensurate with assigned job responsibilities. Other:•Other responsibilities as assigned by the adjunct Director of OST.

Job Requirements and Appropriate qualifications:suitable education•Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Education, or related Social Science field; or equivalent education and practice.practice:•Three years of practice working with diverse, at-risk youth, parents, and school personnel; previous practice working with middle and high-school aged youth preferred. •Two years of practice working with groups and program management in a community setting.•One year of supervision practice, delegating responsibilities to a team of staff. •Previous practice in afterschool program design and development. •Demonstrated capability to work independently in an off-site setting, manage time effectively, multi-task, manage multiple programs concurrently, and utilize supervision and support as necessary.Other Appropriate qualifications:•Computer competencies, including MSOffice, databases, creating professional documents.•capability to work across ethnic/racial/economic lines for effective communication and trust building.•capability to self-start and effectively problem solve.•expertise of charter school climate at a local and state level•Valid Minnesota driver's license, safe driving record and reliable transportation preferred.•capability to speak Spanish preferred.
