Position Summary:
The Central District is seeking applications for a non-tenure track Associate Educator, Instructor or Sr. Instructor, with an emphasis on 4-H Youth Development. The Educator will provide leadership abilities, instruction and support for 4-H Youth Development programs focusing on youth development, adult volunteer development, youth education program development, expanding partnerships, and participation and membership growth. The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate. The Associate Extension Educator member will plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report 4-H Youth Development programs (100%) with an emphasis on 4-H science and life expertise programming.
Scholarship & Creative Activities - Secure external funding, recruit, and develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects, and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets.
Outreach & Extension - Develop and enhance an effective, educational, results-oriented 4-H Youth Development Program that supports the growth and development of life expertise among both youth and adult audiences. Work collectively with other Extension Faculty and Staff to develop, implement, evaluate and report impacts of non-credit educational programming in youth development for youth and adult audiences. Provide leadership abilities for adult and youth volunteer programs including volunteer recruitment, selection, orientation, education and training, motivation, evaluation, recognition and support. Prepare volunteers to take on increasing leadership abilities, management, and public education/information delivery functions in support of 4-H Youth Development programs. Develop and conduct effective educational programs that support the growth and development of life expertise among both youth and adult audiences; train others to effectively deliver programming and to support the development of youth and adult participants. Work effectively as a member of the Central

District 4-H team providing leadership abilities as appropriate. Actively participate with other district 4-H and Extension teams; serve on appropriate committees, share outreach models, lessons learned and best practices all over the organization. Provide leadership abilities and support for engaging stakeholders through various 4-H Youth Development advisory councils and committees in the work of identifying priority youth development needs, and covering them through effective and innovative plans of work. Develop strong working relationship with local Extension staff, university staff, local schools, county departments, community leaders, agencies and institutions to enhance local youth development programming. Associate Extension Educator member will be expected to travel as needed, including nights and weekends. This includes, conducting educational programs that may occur outside of typical office hours (evenings and weekends) to meet clientele needs.
University Service & leadership abilities - Serve on University, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Extension, district and community committees, boards and working groups as appropriate.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

Bachelors degree related to education or youth development is required by date of hire.
Demonstrated capability to design innovative and effective educational programs in response to local needs; implement programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
Demonstrated practice working directly with youth and adult audiences and practice collaborating with community organizations to provide educational practices to diverse youth audiences and others.
Demonstrated competency in people related expertise such as teaching, problem solving, communication, conflict management, relationship building and leadership abilities development.
capability to work well in a team, provide effective leadership abilities for Extension programming, and provide marketing and promotion of the 4-H program.
capability to communicate (verbal, written, listening, public speaking/presentation expertise).
capability to recruit, teach, and manage volunteers.
Computer literacy as demonstrated by the use of technology in programming.
capability to meet the expectations and requirements of the rank of Instructor and/or Senior Instructor.

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

Extension practice in 4-H Youth Development, or applicable professional practice.
expertise of Blaine county and the surrounding area.
practice in fund raising, grantsmanship, and cost recovery efforts.
Demonstrated capability to work effectively with mass media (TV, Internet, radio, newspapers).
