Position Summary:
adjunct professor appointments to this rank normally require the doctorate or appropriate terminal degree. Evidence of potential effective teaching and potential scholarship in teaching and learning, artistic creativity, discovery, and outreach/application/engagement is a prerequisite to appointment to the rank of adjunct professor. Appointees in this rank have charge of instruction in assigned classes or laboratories and independent or shared responsibility in the determination of course objectives, methods of teaching, and the subject matter to be covered. adjunct professors are expected to demonstrate the capability to conduct and direct scholarly activities, and to provide intramural and extramural professional service.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

1) an earned doctoral degree by August 15, 2019 in recreation, sport, and/or tourism, or a related field (for candidates with a degree in a related field, s/he must demonstrate strong evidence of teaching and/or a clear potential for teaching in RSTM);
2) potential for prosperous college teaching (traditional and online) and advising;
3) capability to contribute to the service and outreach mission of the university; and
4) scholarly potential in RSTM teaching, research and/or outreach.

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

We are especially interested in individuals who demonstrate the following:
1) strong evidence of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the RSTM curriculum;
2) evidence of innovative pedagogy, including online course development and instruction;
3) interest in or evidence of online contractual programming with RSTM entities;
4) evidence of applied scholarship and/or outreach that would advance the RSTM curriculum; and
5) expertise of NRPA accreditation standards and procedures.
