Position: Sr. Market Analyst – Technology Development B2B

Job location: San Antonio, TX

Citizenship: Candidates must be a US Permanent Resident (Greencard holder) or US Citizen.

Client and Position Summary:

Our client is a well-established, privately held global corporation. They are a leading manufacturer of high-performance advanced materials and integrated materials solutions spanning the Aerospace, Energy, and Semiconductor industries.

The Sr. Market Analyst conducts market research with respect to new product development, competitor assessments, and industry trends. He/she develops survey models and analysis of market research, forecasts, reports, risk, and alternatives. Manages data and interprets input from the marketplace and recommends actionable strategies that create competitive advantage for the business. Consults with Business Marketing Manager in identifying new segment and product opportunities and assists in developing and implementing marketing plans, campaigns. Develops and maintains relationships with external industry experts and customers to monitor competitive developments and recommend corrective action to marketing plans. Provides guidance to Research Analysts, lesser practiced Marketing support team members.

Primary Job responsibilities:


       »
  • Develops market research plan of action, voice of customer survey/interview tools and contact plan.

  •    »
  • Conducts primary and secondary research to gather data on new product development, technology development and market assessments including customer visits and new potential account cold calls.

  •    »
  • Recommends external sources of market research data to management.

  •    »
  • Manages outsourced market research projects.

  •    »
  • Performs complex analysis in new and existing market segments to quantify financial opportunity for new products, materials or proliferation of existing products.

  •    »
  • Conducts strategic account assessments using the SA evaluation process.

  •    »
  • Analyzes customer activity – i.e. internal skills, intellectual property portfolios, proposed joint ventures, merger and acquisitions, partnerships, product pipeline, new technologies, etc.

  •    »
  • Monitors and proactively reports on strategies and tactics of key competitors and industry peers; identifies emerging market segment, technological trends, competitive environment and game-changing opportunities along with external competitive threats while promoting marketing thought leadership abilities across the Business and Marketing Operations.

  • Builds a network of external relationships at critical decision making levels across a broad cross section of the industry in order to leverage market knowledge and skills.

  •    »
  • Through innovative and objective analysis, enables deep business knowledge of current and new customer insights, competitive environment, opportunity sizes and market trends; Partners with Business Development to assess and profile companies to support both formulation of competitive strategies and identification, execution of strategic partnerships, joint venture opportunities.

  • Prepares and presents market and customer insights and recommendations to internal and external clients, including executive management for strategy development and planning.

  •    »
  • Interprets and summarizes research data providing strategic recommendations to the Business Market Managers, General Managers, Sales and/or Core Team Members.

  • Consults with Business Marketing Manager in identifying new market segments and product opportunities, recommends value proposition and develops market positioning strategy.

  • Participates with Business Market Manager in developing and implementing marketing plans, planning & executing campaigns.

  •    »
  • Participates as the marketing representative on new product development projects in cases where marketing manager resources are limited. Responds to critical business needs, including formulating and presenting recommended actions, providing market context and potential implications, tying together primary and secondary research.

Requirements

Primary Position Requirements:


       »
  • Minimum 3-5 years (ideally 7+ years) marketing practice (data driven market research, market strategy, etc…) in a technology development driven B2B environment required.

  •    »
  • Strong combination of both Quantitative (e.g. – Voice of Customer) and Qualitative (e.g. – Market driven Analysis) research practice in a technology development B2B environment required.

  •    »
  • Excellent problem-solving, statistical analysis, and quantitative skills required

  •    »
  • Demonstrated capability to summarize large amounts of data into significant insights and recommendations for executives and business leaders required, including the capability to remain resilient in data-driven recommendations when faced with resistance.

  •    »
  • practice making market driven recommendations which resulted in prosperous product launch and/or market expansion required.

  •    »
  • practice working effectively on multiple projects simultaneously with demanding deadlines in a team environment is required.

  •    »
  • Industry practice within Semiconductor is a strong plus. Candidates who lack this must have practice learning a new market/industry/product as demonstrated through prosperous launch of the product that was tied to their market research.

  •    »
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel modeling, statistical software, survey design software, and tabulation software a plus.

  •    »
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.

Education Requirements:


       »
  • Bachelor’s in Marketing Analysis (or related), or technical discipline required; MBA highly preferred.
