Detailed Job Description
Teach two or three courses per semester in the broad area of Deaf cultural studies with particular emphasis on courses covering diversity, multiculturalism and intersectionality. Background in theater also is desirable. Actively engage in scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publications and participate in Institute service.The prosperous candidate must have a broad and deep expertise of Deaf culture, as well as excellent curriculum development and teaching expertise.

Department/College Description

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
NTID, one of the nine colleges of RIT, is the world's largest technological college serving deaf and hard of hearing students. Created by Congress and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Information technology represents the world's first effort to educate large numbers of deaf students within a college campus planned primarily for hearing students. Together with 15,000 full and part-time students, over 1,300 college-age deaf students from all 50 states and abroad study and reside on the campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Department of Cultural and Creative Studies offers courses and programs to undergraduates in the broad areas of Deaf cultural studies and performing arts, as well as general education. The department serves deaf students enrolled in associate degree programs at NTID, and both hearing and deaf students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs through agreements with the College of Liberal Arts at RIT.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in field related to Deaf Studies and demonstrated teaching practice. ABD is acceptable.Must enjoy working with undergraduates in a collaborative environment. Proficiency in American Sign Language and strong expertise of Deaf culture.
