The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Pediatric Gastroenterologist, with a primary focus in general pediatric gastroenterology. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a vibrant and collegial academic environment, and work in a children's hospital ranked as one of the best in the U.S. The physician will provide outpatient and inpatient care, and will participate in clinical outreach activities at our pediatric gastroenterology satellite clinics. The physician will also participate in teaching activities, concomitant with clinical care. Although the primary focus of this position is clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work, including education, investigation, administration as well as advocacy.

Clinical activities will be carried out at Primary Children's Hospital, a 289-bed facility located on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City. Primary Children's, owned and operated by Intermountain Healthcare, ranks among the top children's hospitals in the United States. Our outpatient tasks occur at affiliated outpatient clinics located at the hospital; several satellite clinics located 30-45 minutes from the hospital; and sites located distant that would require an overnight stay. Our liver transplant program performed 20 transplants in 2017 and our IBD program manages >300 patients. In partnership with the hospital, we lead a feeding and swallowing center, an eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders program, a motility program, and a comprehensive nutrition clinic. We are active in our cystic fibrosis program, which is recognized nationally for its results, and our clinicians are members of the Esophageal and Airways Treatment Center.

The prosperous candidate must be Board Qualified / Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Gastroenterology. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with practice and qualifications.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah offers a competitive income and an unmatched benefits program, including non-contributory retirement contributions of 20.2% of annual income that vest immediately. The Department offers an education loan repayment program, in addition to a faculty development and mentoring program designed to help faculty succeed in translational or basic research.

Salt Lake City is a rapidly growing, vibrant city in the Intermountain West. Within the city are outstanding restaurants and a newly opened Broadway theater. The Salt Lake International Airport is a hub for Delta Airlines and has direct flights to many North American cities and everyday direct flights to multiple European cities. Outdoor activities are unparalleled: the city is a ski destination and a gateway to the state's renowned red rock landscapes. In addition to its 14 ski resorts, Utah boasts five national parks (with five more within a half-day's drive), a variety of golf courses allowing for year-round play, hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, and numerous other outdoor activities.
