The Office of Student Affairs at the Johns Hopkins University Peabody Conservatory is seeking an energetic, organized, and motivated individual to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on student development and wellness.  Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs, this position provides general administrative support to the Student Affairs office suite (Student Affairs, Residence Life, Student leadership abilities and Engagement, Discapability Resources).
Located in the heart of Baltimore’s Mount Vernon Cultural District, the Peabody Institute was founded in 1857 as America’s first academy of music. Today, through its degree-granting Conservatory and its community-located Preparatory music and dance school, Peabody trains musicians and dancers of every age and at every level.  Each year Peabody stages nearly 850 public concerts and performances.  Peabody is one of the nine divisions that comprise the Johns Hopkins University.
 
Essential Job tasks: 
   » Assist the offices in the suite by triaging visitors, purchasing supplies and general office tasks
   » Field and respond to questions and information requests from all levels of internal (faculty, staff, students) and external individuals and organizations regarding policies, procedures and services under the purview of the office
   » Exercise independent judgment in the resolution of administrative problems. Help coordinate and facilitate the collaboration of Peabody departments to deliver services
   » Assist Director with cultivation, development and maintenance of partnerships with area health services professionals to provide students with valuable health and wellness information.
   » Select, train and supervise student office adjuncts for the Student Affairs Office
   » Coordinate locker rentals
   » Maintain Student Affairs web pages
   » Create and maintain various databases
   » Answer phones, screen calls and relay messages. Sort and distribute mail.
   » supervise Campus bulletin boards
   » Establish and maintain filing systems, office supplies and materials distribution
   » Assist Director of Student Affairs with any other tasks as assigned
Required:    
   » HS diploma/GED required, 3 years of practice required. Additional education may substitute for required practice.
   »  Excellent time management and organizational expertise.
   » Excellent customer service expertise.
   » Good communication expertise (oral and written).
   » Good computer expertise (Word, Access, Excel).
   » capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
   » capability to work effectively in a stressful environment.
   » capability to work as a member of a team.
Preferred:
   » Bachelor’s degree
   » expertise of music educational environment/expertise of classical music
   » practice in higher education administration

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide continuing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
