The Department of Radiology is recruiting afellowship-trained vascular interventional radiologistto join our team of 11 faculty in the Division of Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR), at either the Clinical Instructor, Clinicaladjunct, ClinicalAssociate Professor or ClinicalProfessor level.
Our growing and diverse adult and pediatric VIR practice has the breadth, depth and scale for faculty at any career stage, and with general or specialized interests anywhere along the spectrum from clinician-educator to clinician-scientist. We emphasize mentorship, career and leadership abilities development in a culture that embraces diversity. We are pursuing candidates who are excellent clinical vascular interventional radiologists and enthusiastic educators. An aptitude for research and innovation is strongly encouraged.
The VIR Division provides clinical care at the University Hospital, Frankel Cardiovascular Center, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital on our main campus, in addition to several Michigan Medicine ambulatory care facilities and the Ann Arbor Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. Across the Michigan Medicine facilities, we have 14 angiography suites, including a combined CT-angiography room, and 2 additional rooms with cone-beam CT capcapability. The Ann Arbor Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, the largest in our state, has 2 state-of-the-art angiography suites and a dedicated procedural CT scanner. We are actively planning programming for additional suites in our new clinical inpatient tower on main campus, and East Medical Campus ambulatory facilities in Ann Arbor.
M.D. or equivalent, ABR-certified or has passed the core examination and on track to take the certifying examination within 15 months of completing residency. Must have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, completed or be eligible to complete ABR-certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and be able to obtain a medical license in the State of Michigan. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in teaching is expected.
This position is posted as Clinical Instructor/Clinical adjunct Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor. Rank of selected candidate is dependent upon qualifications.
Our VIR faculty perform the entire gamut of image-guided minimally-invasive procedures with strong emphasis on vascular, oncologic, transplant, hepatobiliary and pediatric IR services. VIR faculty are engaged in all facets of image-guided intervention, including aortic disease, PAD, venous disease, pulmonary disease, interventional oncology, peripheral skeletal bone ablation and cement augmentation, visceral tumor ablation, advanced portal hypertension and transplant interventions. The VIR-division is a clinically-located practice and faculty are integrally involved in multidisciplinary tumor boards, portal hypertension clinics, vascular clinics, and transplant programs.
Vascular Interventional Radiology is one of 9 clinical specialty units, which together with our robust basic science division, form the Department of Radiology faculty. With approximately 150 faculty, we consistently rank near the top nationally in NIH funding, and rank within the top 10 post graduate radiology education programs. The Division provides training for 7 VIR fellows, our IR-DR residents, and to our diagnostic radiology residents. We have several advanced practice providers and continue to hire staff to meet our growing practice.
The Michigan Medicine Medical Campus has connectivity to both the Medical School and greater University campus, providing opportunity for collaboration with a diverse faculty. Ann Arbor is consistently rated as one of the top cities its size in which to live, work and play, and is a community ranked highly for raising a family. The city is culturally rich and provides excellent educational options for children. Many faculty enjoy attending the diversity of music/theater/art and athletic events (#Go Blue) offered across campus. Detroit Metro Airport, a Delta Airlines hub, is approximately half an hour away, providing not stop flights to most US and many international destinations.
