Hours: 6-8 hours/week, primarily Sunday morning 

Primary tasks:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Prepare materials and assist in creation of 8th grade curriculum and events calendar, using curriculum which is primarily focused on sexuality, relationships, and racial/social/gender justice (search "Our Whole Lives" curriculum online for more information). Create safe and welcoming space in youth classrooms. Support volunteer youth advisors. Coordinate and supervise overnights and other special youth events, ensuring parents, youth and chaperones understand and follow church policies, safety protocols, and ground rules. Perform data entry, purchasing, organization, communications and other tasks for the program.
Be available on Sunday mornings to assist and greet youth, families, and volunteers
Communicate verbally and in writing with staff, volunteers, youth and adult congregants
Assist with the set-up and clean-up of 8th grade classroom on Sundays
Serve as a teacher in youth classes, as needed
Assist with preparation and staffing of OWL youth events
Attend scheduled meetings with CYFM staff and managers


POSITION Requirements:
practice in working with or teaching youth
practice and training in sexuality education preferred
Strong administrative, computer, organizational and interpersonal expertise
Strong initiative and capability to follow-through with multiple tasks
Both a good team member and a self-directed worker
Warm and welcoming to youth and adults
Commitment to religious education and availability to lgain about Unitarian Universalism
High school diploma/GED and some college preferred
Must meet background check criteria
Must have reliable transportation, especially on Sunday mornings
Respectful of Unitarian Universalist principles
knowledge of the diversity of the church community including age, gender, sexual orientation, race, creed, national origin, religious affiliation, marital status and discapability
capability to maintain good boundaries with coworkers, managers, and congregants
capability to communicate effectively and respectfully
Must demonstrate compassion and care for others, and communicate genuine, accurate empathy with others’ joys and pains
