Johns Hopkins University Research Animal Resources and the Department of Molecular and Comparative Pathobiology in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seek a laboratory animal veterinarian to be appointed as an adjunct or Associate Professor. The prosperous applicant will primarily provide colony health and research support for the rodent programs at Johns Hopkins University. She or he will also take an active function in the ACLAM-recognized laboratory animal medicine training program, participate in regulatory activities, and conduct clinical or collaborative research. He or she will join 5 laboratory animal medicine DVM faculty and 4 post-doctoral clinical DVM trainees in providing clinical and research support for multiple animal species.

Responsibilities will include: management of an active rodent support service, including import/export, colony health testing, and infection management; conduct of clinical and collaborative research; training of staff, DVM post-doctoral fellows, and researchers in medical, surgical, and experimental procedures; active participation in all aspects of the laboratory animal medicine training program; and consultation with investigators regarding models development and experimental design and execution.
Requirements include license to practice veterinary medicine in the US and a current driver's license. Candidates must have excellent oral and written English capabilities, a thorough expertise of current US regulatory standards, strong teaching expertise, and the capability to work with a diverse group of individuals with minimal supervision. candidates should have a demonstrated capability to conduct clinical or collaborative research, a record of customer service, and the capability to seek out, build, and maintain positive collaborative relationships with investigators. practice and proficiency in rodent clinical medicine, screening, diagnosis, and eradication of excluded pathogens from closed rodent colonies, and advanced research support procedures is expected. Preference will be given to candidates who have ACLAM or other veterinary clinical board certification.
