Position Description: The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in Indiana University School of Public Health? Bloomington (SPH?B) invites applications for the Chair and Tenured Full Professor position by individuals who would contribute multidisciplinary perspectives, conceptual and methodological diversity, and research leadership abilities and mentoring strengths to the Department's efforts toward an integrated approach to preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being communities through research, teaching, and service. Located on the Flagship Campus of the Indiana University System, IU School of Public Health?Bloomington has over 170 faculty in five departments ( Indiana University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), and boasts numerous resources available to IU School of Public Health? Bloomington faculty. This 12?month appointment would start July 1, 2019 although an earlier hire date is possible. Job responsibilities: The Chair will provide leadership abilities in research, teaching, and service activities in the department; manage the departmental budget, secure financial resources to meet program objectives; actively assist with fundraising activities; represent the department on external committees. The Chair will recruit and mentor outstanding faculty, staff and graduate students; and facilitate productive interaction among faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Information technology is expected that the prosperous candidate will work closely with the departmental faculty and the Dean to further the School's goals and research mission.
Resources: The Department has 11 faculty members (9 Tenure/Tenure Track, 1 Non-Tenure Track, 1 academic specialist) with a budget of approximately $1.7 million. The Department offers a curriculum in a number of areas including the BSPH, MPH, MS and PhD programs in Environmental Health. In addition, a newly approved M.S. program in environmental and occupational health will begin in Spring 2019. We seek to provide students with the necessary expertise and knowledge in toxicology, global environmental health, and occupational health. While this is a relatively young department, our faculty are committed to knowledge how the living and working environment impacts human health. We envision a department that will be a leader in areas comprising but not limited to toxicology, global and rural environmental health and occupational health with degree programs tailored for students to enter professional settings in industry, government and academia.

Appropriate qualifications: Candidates must have a research focus and hold a doctoral degree in a disciplinary area covered by the department. Candidates must also demonstrate a record of extramurally funded research, current funding, and the capability to collaborate with others across disciplines. practice in leadership abilities and/or administrative functions is critical to this position.
