Summary of tasks and Responsibilities
The Department of Residence within the Division of Student Affairs at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Facilities Mechanic III. This position will respond to day-to-day work orders by performing maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems. This position will also provide food service equipment support and perform preventive maintenance on facilities and commercial systems. Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
The prosperous candidate will posses strong communication expertise, be a highly motivated individual and a self-starter, work well with staff to create good working relations, and will have the capability to take direction. Additionally, proficiency in keyboarding and the use of computers is necessary.

Required Qualifications
1. Must possess expertise of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and 2. Must have four years of work practice in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that practice must be in the same craft.
Special Qualifications
Must have valid driver’s license and capability to be authorized to drive University vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
License at journeyman level in one or more areas of electrical, plumbing, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
practice maintaining and repairing industrial kitchen equipment.
practice performing maintenance in a residential setting.
