Posting Summary: The Center for Behavioral Medicine Research within the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is seeking a Research Coordinator to assist the CBMR Principal Investigator and manager by participating in all phases of subject recruitment and assessment, including administering questionnaires, measuring blood pressure and glucose, collecting urine samples, instructing subjects on the use of glucose meters and activity monitors, conducting 24 hour dietary recalls over the telephone, and data entry. In addition, the incumbent will participate in project specific and center-wide weekly technical meetings. The Research Coordinator will answer directly to the Nurse Coordinator.

The Research Coordinator will conduct telephone interviews of potential research participants with type 2 diabetes to both screen them for inclusion and exclusion criteria and inform them about the study, conduct telephone-located 24-hour dietary recalls, and perform in-person assessments. This person will be required to collect accurate and thorough data from participants, store and track it, and work with the Nurse Coordinator and data manager to ensure no errors or gaps in collected data. This person will follow scripts for the telephone screening, dietary recalls and assessments to ensure consistency of information being presented and data being collected. Any procedural uncertainties will be taken to the Nurse Coordinator, and, if uncertainties cannot be resolved, then the Research Coordinator and the Nurse Coordinator will consult the Principle Investigator. The Research Coordinator will act in a respectful and appreciative manner in all participant interactions and will join in team research meanings where Information technology is expected that team members contribute to discussions and team planning an ask questions when procedures are either unclear or appear problematic.

The prosperous Candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in psychology or pre-med, and some customer or consumer related work practice, preferably as a member of a research team and working with research subjects collecting research data. Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, basic knowledge of diabetes, and expertise to measure blood glucose and vital signs are required.

This position has an end date of August 31, 2019. This position is restricted and is contingent upon the continuation of funding other variables.
