The Fuel Fund of Maryland (Fuel Fund), a Baltimore-located private nonprofit, provides resources to Maryland households with heat and utility needs. Our donors, staff, and board support and advocate for collaborative funding and educational services that ensure affordable energy to Maryland households struggling to cover their utility bills due to economic hardship, medical expenses, etc. We serve a range of clients including low-earnings communities, senior citizens, and veterans. The Development, Marketing, and Communications team at the Fuel Fund is seeking an intern to assist the department with all aspects of development. This person will be a vital part of the team as we'll rely on their consistent efforts to stay up-to-date with data and finish assigned projects in a timely manner. This position reports directly to the Development Manager but will work closely with all department staff.

Key Responsibilities of the DMC Intern:


       »
  • Assist with marketing & logistics of annual events including Operation Hon: Heat on Now and Third Party Fundraisers

  •    »
  • Research prospective corporate sponsors for the annual Operation Hon event

  •    »
  • Provide support for the Development Manager with continuing activities such as prospect research for the Mid-Level Donor Program

  •    »
  • Enter donor data in company software, Salesforce

  •    »
  • Assist Development Manager and Director of Development, Marketing, and Communications with grant writing and updates

  •    »
  • Receives, sorts and files weekly acexpertisement reports

  •    »
  • Perform entry-level steps for donation processing

  •    »
  • Other development tasks as assigned

Appropriate qualifications:


       »
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including word and excel

  •    »
  • Clear communicator, self-motivated, flexible, and hard-working

  •    »
  • Comfortable speaking with donors and client groups we serve

  •    »
  • Familiarity with fundraising software or capability to quickly adapt

  •    »
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks

  •    »
  • Eagerness to lgain about development and the nonprofit world in general

  •    »
  • Have a reliable form of transportation

  •    »
  • Must be a college student pursuing a Bachelor's degree at a local institution

This is a part-time and unpaid internship. The DMC Intern will be required to work a maximum of 15-20 hours per week from our Baltimore office, accessible to 95 with free parking. Internship hours can be transferred into school credits (if allowed by institution). candidates will be accepted until the position is filled with an expected start-date in September 2018.
