The University of Kansas seeks outstanding individuals for the position of the Dean of the School of Engineering. The Dean serves as chief academic and administrative agent of the School of Engineering and is responsible for providing imaginative, effective, dynamic, and transformational leadership abilities to ensure the school’s long-term success.
It is a time of remarkable development for the School of Engineering. Since 2012, the school has dramatically expanded its facilities--adding five new buildings and 325,000 square feet of world-class research labs, state-of-the-art classrooms and enhanced collaboration spaces. Key areas of research skills deliver strong economic impact for the state and region: Bioengineering, Catalysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Cybersecurity/Defense, Radar and Remote Sensing, RF Engineering, Structures, Unconventional Oil Recovery, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Water Quality.
The School of Engineering is located on the main KU campus in Lawrence, a thriving community of 100,000 about 35 miles west of Kansas City and 25 miles east of Topeka, the state capital. The School also offers undergraduate and advanced degree opportunities on the Edwards Campus in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park.
Founded in 1865, KU is a major public research and teaching institution of 28,447 students and 2,600 faculty on five campuses (Lawrence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Wichita, and Salina). Since 1909, KU is the only Kansas Regents university to hold membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), a select group of 62 public and private research universities that represent excellence in graduate and professional education and the highest achievements in research internationally. Its faculty and students are supported and strengthened by endowment assets of more than $1.44 billion. As a premier international research university, the University of Kansas is committed to an open, diverse and inclusive learning and working environment that nurtures the growth and development of all. In a continuing effort to enrich its academic and research environment as well as provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the university encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups.

About University of Kansas
In 1866, the University of Kansas welcomed the first class of 55 students to an unfinished building on a treeless ridge called Mount Oread.Today, our enrollment approaches 30,000. From that single building, we have grown to five campuses - the Lawrence campus, the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, and medical branches in Kansas City, Wichita, and Salina. The once barren landscape has grown into a wooded campus considered one of the most beautiful in the nation. We embrace our function as the state's flagship university and a premier research institution, serving the state, nation, and world. We celebrate the energy and compassion that infuse the Jayhawk spirit. And we remain true to our historic values: the elevating force of education, the transformative power of research, and the healing power of service.
