About the Position
As our Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be studying the consequences of Huntingtin lowering, using a variety of techniques in the Carroll lab.
Your responsibilities will include:
   » Training and assisting other lab personnel with experimental work
   » Analyzing data, reading the literature and writing reports and manuscripts
   » Conducting laboratory experiments
Required Qualifications
   » A deep knowledge of the neurobiology of neurodegenerative diseases, ideally including mouse models of these diseases
   » Laboratory Mouse expertise - including: basic animal husbandry, behavioral practice, intraperitoneal injections, blood collection, tissue harvesting, brain microdissection
   » Molecular Biology expertise - including: DNA, RNA and protein isolation, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reations, plymearase chain reaction, basic molecular cloning techniques, cell culture practice
   » Microscopy expertise - practice with light, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy
   » PhD in neuroscience or related field with a research focus on neurodegenerative diseases
   » capability to work independently with minimal supervision on long-term projects
   » capability to advise and train students, both undergraduate and graduate, as well as technicians in lab techniques
   » capability to pursue the scientific literature and contribute novel insights into the planning and execution of future experiments
   » Strong written and interpersonal communication expertise
Preferred Qualifications
   » practice with the R statistical programming language
   » practice with genome-wide quantification of transcript abundance, ideally using RNA sequencing techniques
   » An interest in neuroscience education, for both undergraduates and the public
income Commensurate with practice and qualifications
