Alvernia University - Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach

Alvernia University, located in Reading, Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach. Women's Ice Hockey will begin play in the 2019-20 academic year. Full-time start date is July 1, 2018, with a part-time recruiting stipend to be negotiated prior to July 1 (if feasible and desired).

The Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach is responsible for starting and managing all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Program including, but not limited to, recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes and preparing student-athletes for success through practice planning, strategy development, and skill instruction.

The Head Coach will also be responsible for tracking their student-athlete's academic progress, maintaining appropriate records and paperwork, and ensuring compliance with all university, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations.

A Bachelor's degree and prosperous practice as a player and/or coach is required. Master's degree and college head coaching practice is desired.

The prosperous candidate will display a record of accomplishment "on the ice" as well as "off the ice" having served as a mentor and coach to prosperous student-athletes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate and be able to communicate a commitment to the mission and core values and goals of Alvernia University. Strong organizational, managery, and team-building capabilities are required.

Recently, the University has grown in both educational opportunities and enrollment. Alvernia offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Social Work, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees; seven master's degrees; and doctoral programs in leadership abilities (PhD), physical therapy (DPT), and nursing practice (DNP).

Alvernia's nearly 500 student-athletes compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). MAC Women's Ice Hockey schools include Stevenson, Wilkes, King's, Lebanon Valley, and Manhattanville.

Reading, Pennsylvania is situated between the scenic Blue and South Mountains in southeastern Pennsylvania. Information technology features a reasonable cost-of-living with high rates of homeownership, substantial healthcare options, and a number of high quality education choices. Reading offers a mix of cultural entertainment destinations, such as the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, the Reading Public Museum, outlet shopping, minor-league sports, and concerts at the Santander Arena. The University is conveniently located an hour from Philadelphia and within an easy two- to three-hour drive of some of the world's greatest centers of commerce, government, culture, sports, and entertainment: New York, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
