The Greenwood, Miss., Commonwealth is seeking a talented, intellectually curious college graduate who can write proficiently but needs practice.
The Commonwealth, a 4,000-circulation five-day daily, prides itself on being a teaching newspaper. You put in the effort, and we will return the favor with good coaching and challenging, varied assignments.
As a general assignment reporter, you will cover several important and interesting beats — local government, education, police and courts — plus enterprise work and features. Photography/videography expertise valuable.
Although we have some preference for journalism graduates, we will also consider liberal arts majors who went to good schools where they learned how to write and to think critically.
The Commonwealth publishes Tuesday through Saturday mornings. Information technology has been regularly judged as one of the best small everyday newspapers in Mississippi. Information technology also publishes a quarterly magazine.
Greenwood is in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, an area with a rich and complex civil rights history as well as an interesting and varied culture.
