Description: is the premier everyday news organization in Vermont with 1 million unique readers a year. We specialize in watchdog reporting on government, business and politics. Our investigative work has been recognized nationally and we were recently called the “envy of the nonprofit news world” by Harvard’s Shorenstein Center. is seeking a Washington, D.C., correspondent to cover Vermont’s congressional delegation and cover national political issues from a Vermont perspective. The DC reporter will also lead our coverage of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ national political ambitions.
The ideal candidate should be:
a self-starter proficient at managing time, developing story ideas and producing publication-ready content with minimal editing and supervision.
knowledge of how to navigate Washington and obtain information outside official channels.  
capability to aggressively pursue scoops, report breaking news and develop breakout features
familiar with collecting and analyzing data and using Information technology to verify and sharpen anecdotal reporting.
able to think critically and creatively about how to use digital and visual storytelling elements, including photos, videos, and social media.
Required practice:
5+ years of professional journalism practice
practice leading in-depth investigations
Strong reporting and writing expertise
