DESIGN RESEARCHER FOR TEACHER EDUCATION , Office of Digital Learning (ODL)-Teaching Systems Lab , to join an interdisciplinary team of learning designers and teacher educators to lead and implement design-located researchprojects, collaborating closely with the Woodrow Wilson Academy (WWA) of Teaching and Learning. TSL in partnership with the WWA is creating a new teacher education program. This presents a rare opportunity to bring creative and innovative ways to reimagine what and how teachers learn. Will create prototypes for practice spaces--playful and game-like learning practices that allow teachers to enact the expertise required to deal with authentic problems of teaching and learning--and inform the design team's work with in-depth literature reviews of best practices in teacher education. Responsibilities include leading and managing design-located research projects, working closely with a game designer, MIT undergraduates, and WWA teacher candidates and faculty; collaborating with the curriculum development team to iteratively develop practice spaces and research them in the context of the program and other teachereducationprograms; researching and synthesizing innovations in teacher education and informing/educating the design team; publishing journal articles; and presenting at national conferences.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED : Ph.D./ learning sciences, curriculum and instruction, cognitive science, or STEM education fields; practice working with K-12 students and teacher educators, from both formal and informal learning environments; consciousness of the affordances of different approaches to learning, including nontraditional; vision of how learning and teaching can be improved; practice conducting and leading design-located research; and a proven record of leading and managing a project with interdisciplinary teams and of scholarly work and academic publication. Design-located education research practice in the context of teacher education and game-located learning preferred. Job#16174
