Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, Louisiana, announces an exceptional opportunity for a nationally recognized leader in Palliative Medicine to serve as Chair of the Department of Palliative Medicine for Ochsner Medical Center (OMC). OMC is a 473-bed acute care academic medical center and flagship institution for Ochsner Health System, one of the largest non-profit, academic, multispecialty healthcare delivery systems in the United States.
The Chair has responsibility for the development and maintenance of efficient and effective clinical operations and the promotion of collaborative work relationships between clinicians at all levels. The Chair supervises all clinical, academic and teaching components of palliative medicine across the inpatient and ambulatory setting and ensures the highest level of clinical quality and patient safety. The Chair of Palliative Medicine will provide leadership abilities to a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers and spiritual care representatives. Significant resources have been dedicated to support the growth and development of a high performing, nationally recognized Palliative Medicine program at Ochsner Medical Center.
The prosperous candidate will be recognized as an outstanding leader in Palliative Medicine and have an excellent track record in clinical care, research, and teaching within an established academic program. The prosperous candidate must be collaborative and enjoy functioning in a team-located environment, providing direct patient care, teaching students, residents and fellows, and participating in clinical research. A medical degree (MD or DO), current board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and a minimum of five years of clinical and leadership abilities practice in Palliative Medicine are required.
