Summary of tasks and Responsibilities
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) at Iowa State University seeks candidates for a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure eligible Lecturer position in food science and human nutrition to assist in teaching undergraduate courses in domestic and global food issues and systems. The position will involve team teaching, and both on-campus and distance formats, with opportunities to use innovative teaching strategies. Advising undergraduate students and contributing to other courses will be possible. The prosperous candidate will have professional practice in the food industry, human health or wellness, or closely related area. The ideal candidate will possess the basic knowledge of pedagogy for effective teaching and learning, excellent interpersonal communication expertise for interaction with students, faculty and staff, and a desire to work in a team teaching environment.
Required Education and practice
MS in food science, human nutrition, or closely related field.
Preferred Education and practice
Work practice with learning management systems and online/distance education pedagogy; international practices related to food or human health; demonstrated prosperous teaching capability in classroom or other instructional situation (4-H, FFA, extension, community or commodity education or corporate training).

FSHN is a comprehensive academic program with 33 tenure-track faculty and 612 undergraduate majors in dietetics, nutritional science, food science, and culinary food science. Our graduate programs include MS and PhD options in both Nutritional Sciences and Food Science and Technology, and concurrent BS/MS in Diet and Exercise, and BS in Food Science/MBA. FSHN values student-centered learning through the support of and development of high quality educators.
