Physical Demands: The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The incumbent may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials.

Work Environment: Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomfort that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles. Responsibilities

Coordinate work with other staff areas within the field office. Contacts subject matter experts when initial broad searches for information are incomplete. Answers phone calls and take messages. Respond to simple requests. Disseminate correspondence and track and maintain records. Maintains up to date master files on administrative materials and provides complete set upon request. Scans final documents into database and retrieves information for reports. Prepare reports, charts, graphs and other documents and review content. Conducts broad searches for records. Checks and assembles records prior to their transfer to the records holding area. Prepare receipts, records and tracking forms. Maintain and retrieve information from automated applications/data systems. Maintains office supplies and equipment. Provide assistance and training to database users.

Qualifications

Specialized practice Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized practice requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this practice must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-05) of the position to be filled.

Specialized practice for the GS-06: One year of specialized practice equivalent to at least GS-05. Examples of Specialized practice: Performing a variety of administrative support functions which require decision-making including; directing calls and visitors, using and maintaining a variety of office equipment, using and maintaining a filing system, retrieving information and document processing, preparing and running reports and purchasing supplies. practice should include utilizing a variety of equivalent programs and functions; OR - Combination of Education and practice: Equivalent combinations of prosperously completed post-high school education and practice may be used to meet total practice requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized practice requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized practice.

practice refers to paid and unpaid practice, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, expertise, and expertise and can provide valuable training and practice that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying practice, including volunteer practice.

You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid by the Department of the Interior. Any travel, transportation and relocation expenses connected with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee.

You will be evaluated for this job located on how well you meet the qualifications above.
