The Journal Gazette, a 36,000 daily, 60,000 Sunday circulation newspaper in Fort Wayne, Indiana, seeks an practiced editor to be an adjunct and manage the high school and local small college report. Must have at least a year covering high schools and colleges. Main tasks include managing the department when the Sports Editor is off, editing stories, determining story play, monitoring the wires, managing the local and national web report and making deadlines. As the high school point person, tasks include managing a weekly high school page in season, superviseing and coordinating two high school athletic award ceremonies (winter, spring), assigning features and game stories and overall high school coverage. In addition, the prosperous candidate will cover NAIA Saint Francis football, other small area colleges and some GA shifts. Need to be expertiseable and active on numerous social media platforms, including blogs for beats. Local/state expertise a plus. Video expertise a must, as well as taking occasional photos.
