Information Technology


The Information technology Communications Specialist will own and manage the Information technology department s content presence and will partner with other Sidley departments to support their content management and content creation on the firm s intranet. Additionally, the individual will develop communication strategies, determine appropriate communication media, create plans, and draft communications for project-related communications while collaborating with Information technology Project Teams, the CIO, Technology Training, and various other Sidley departments as needed. The Information technology Communications Specialist will ensure clear, organized, understandable, and user- and situation-specific communications for the intranet, Information technology projects, firm wide Information technology communications, and Information technology newsletters.



* Serve as the main point of contact for content-related inquiries and support for the firm s intranet content management system

* Own and manage Information technology s content presence on the firm intranet by collaborating with Information technology leadership abilities to ensure accuracy and relevancy of information for firm personnel

* Partner with all other Sidley departments (e.g. Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting, expertise Management, etc.) to support their content management and content creation on the firm intranet

* Create and manage a content refresh lifecycle for all Sidley departments to follow by analyzing available data and recommending improvements for better displaying and conveying information

* Support Information technology and other Sidley departments in communicating key messages via the intranet and other IT-supported platforms


* Working with the Information technology Change Management Lead, create and execute an Information technology Communications plan for assigned projects, collaborating with leads of impacted functional areas to ensure appropriate messaging and communication channels

* Manage overall project-related communications components, identifying cross-functional dependencies, key milestones, and critical paths while working with Project Managers and their teams to ensure schedules stays aligned with the overall Information technology initiative.


* Own, assess, and improve the existing Information technology outage and maintenance communications processes

* Determine appropriate communication media for Information technology messages, make recommendations, and when appropriate, explore new options

* Identify new ways for the Information technology organization to engage our firm personnel and increase technology adoption

* Analyze available communications metrics to recommend improvements for the firm s intranet, Information technology project-related communications, and maintenance communications

* Develop and execute on a comprehensive communications strategy for the Information technology organization

Education and/or practice:


* Bachelor s degree in Communications, Journalism, or equivalent work practice

* A minimum of 5 years of practice in working with end user communications, corporate communications and/or marketing

* broad writing and content development practice

* Content management system practice (preferred: SiteCore) and skill in web-located writing

* practice with information technology, technology communications strategy, planning and execution and/or technical writing

* Demonstrated capability to balance business and user benefit with implementation complexity

* capability to work with various teams to identify communications needs, develop communications plans, craft messaging appropriately and execute on these plans
