Position Overview
The Major Gifts agent will be responsible for major gift and planned gift initiatives at HIES. Typical tasks include:
• Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, including identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors.
• Assist with major campaigns.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, donors, prospective donors, administration, and staff.
• supervise and support volunteers, providing them with valuable materials and guidance to ensure success.
• With the Director of Institutional Advancement, develop and implement a perpetual Major Gifts program as well as a Planned Giving program.
• Assist with donor recognition (publications and events).
• Plan and execute major and planned gift related events.
• Prepare major and planned gift pledge paperwork and acexpertisements as needed.
• Work with the Communications Department on major gift and planned giving publications and websites.
• Assist with stewardship efforts including donor reports and room/space dedications when needed.
• Conduct prospect research and analysis to inform major gift solicitation strategies.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Head of School or the Director of Institutional Advancement.

The Major Gifts agent reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement and works closely with the entire Development team. This is a calendar year, full time position. Required Education, expertise and Abilities
   » Bachelor’s Degree or master’s degree and three-to-five years of major gifts practice at an independent school or university.
   » Strong interpersonal and relationship-building expertise.
   » Excellent oral and written communication expertise.
   » Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook.
   » expertise of Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge preferred
   » An employment history highlighted by increased levels of responsibility and demonstrated capability to exercise sensitivity and good judgment in dealing with staff and the public.
   » capability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
   » Demonstrated success in working with and motivating volunteers.
   » capability to work independently and as part of a team and interact positively with a wide variety of individuals.
   » Energy, initiative, integrity, sincerity and the drive to succeed.
