The School of Communication at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2018-2019. Rank will be dependent on practice and stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on September 1, 2018.
Seeking an Investigative Broadcaster in Residence. candidates should have a proven track record for reporting on, or editing/producing, important investigative stories; top candidates can lead students from the beginning ofthe investigative process to final broadcast or audio product. Highly qualified candidates with an advanced degree will be considered. Theposition requires the candidate to teach multiple courses each semester in journalism, which could include but is not limited to courses in audio, writing and digital expertise. Media industry practice and capability to teach courses in journalism, audio and video production for newscasts, podcasts, and multimedia storytelling, familiarity with software programs such as Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, and ENPS is a plus. Teaching practice is a plus. At a university continuing to grow a diverse student body, we are interested in candidates whose work has included diverse populations in content or behind the scenes.
