The Space Systems Academic Group (SSAG) in the Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (GSEAS) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for the position of non-tenure track Faculty Associate - Research in the field of CubeSat ground station and spacecraft support. This position will be part-time (~20 hrs/week) located at the Naval Postgraduate School campus in Monterey, CA. This position is not full-time telework eligible. We are pursuing candidates with core strengths in areas such as information assurance and system automation. Familiarity with satellite communication systems is highly desired.

The prosperous candidate is expected to work with ground station hardware and software to maintain, automate, and improve existing ground station sites in the Mobile CubeSat Communication and Control (MC3) network, as well as support the development of new sites. Occasional travel is expected.

The SSAG is an interdisciplinary academic association providing direction and guidance for the Space Systems Engineering and Space Systems Operations curricula. The SSAG performs applied, space-related research in support of our educational curricula and research interests. A major goal of the SSAG is to couple NPS space research efforts with the graduate education of military agents. This is typically done through thesis research topics and directed studies located in the Small Satellite Laboratory, created and maintained specifically for agent student involvement.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » An earned Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
   » Proficiency in a modern programming language is required; expertise of C, Python, STK, and MATLAB is highly desired
   » Must be eligible for a TS/SCI clearance
   » U.S. citizenship required
