St. Paul’s Episcopal School, located across from Lake Merritt in Oakland, enrolls approximately 380 students from diverse backgrounds in Kindergarten - Grade 8. St. Paul’s seeks to fill a Seventh Grade History Teacher position, for the 2018-2019 academic year, with an practiced, dynamic individual who:
   » has a deep interest and passion for teaching History and Social Studies.
   » has an knowledge of middle school students and enjoys working with them
   » has attained a BA degree (mandatory) and credential (preferred)
   » has 3-5 years practice teaching middle school History, Social Studies or Humanities
   » can provide opportunities for language expression in a variety of forms
   » can develop writing fluency, with grammar, structure and writing mechanics as on-going part of instruction
   » can create a developmentally appropriate cooperative learning environment
   » has practice teaching literature, grammar, and writing integrated with a social studies curriculum of world cultures (preferred)
   » has interest and/or practice integrating service learning into the curriculum
   » can expose students to a multicultural perspective of universal human practice
   » has interest and/or practice teaching social emotional curriculum to middle school students
   » has excellent communication expertise with both children and adults
   » has practice collaborating with a team of teachers to deliver curriculum
   » values collegiality with other teachers and administrators
   » has a warm and energetic personality and a good sense of humor
   » has practice working in a private/independent school setting (preferred)

This teacher will collaborate with the 7th grade English teacher, co-teaching at least one block per week. In addition, this teacher will work closely with the overall 7th grade team consisting of a Math teacher, Science teacher, English teacher, Spanish teacher, and a group of specialists - Physical education, Music, Technology, and Art.
