RESPONSIBILITIES

This position serves as an integral member of the Contracts, Subcontracts, Procurement & Property (CSPP) department. CSPP strives to provide both its internal and external customers with solution-oriented leadership abilities and guidance and is focused on achieving the strategic objectives of the organization while balancing risk and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has an interest in contributing to the success of the entire CSPP department in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.

Responsibilities will include interfacing with potential and current customers, reviewing proposed terms and conditions, negotiating agreements, conducting strategic sourcing activities and being accountable for all aspects of commercial purchases in conformity with Draper Procurement Procedures. Applicant should have a keen interest supply chain management and should be willing to work as a member of an innovative program team. The applicant must be detail-oriented, must demonstrate excellent communication expertise and the capability to develop recommendations to senior staff to support solutions to moderate to complex problems.

Primary Job responsibilities:

* Support the success of Commercial Programs by achieving cost and time efficiencies through the use of strategic sourcing and related purchasing best practices. Activities will include: analyzing spend data, identifying sources, implementing cost saving measures, negotiating agreements and developing sourcing strategies.

* Negotiate strategic agreements with vendors to maximum benefit for Commercial

* Prepare, dispatch and analyze RFP/RFI/RFQs with Task Leaders to determine most cost efficient and best quality vendors for larger purchases

* Analyze spend data/trends to identify and develop overall strategic initiatives to aid meet program s goals.

* With support from senior staff, contact with Programs and Engineering to identify opportunities for improvement in the source selection process and support the transition to improved processes.

* Negotiate Fellow Agreements and participate in the negotiation of internally-funded R&D Agreements to support Strategic Technical Opportunities Office.

* Identify risk in terms and conditions that deviate from company policy. Support senior CSPP staff in developing and presenting risk mitigation approaches/recommendations to senior management.

* Provide guidance on aspects of assigned agreements and grants to ensure conformance with agreement terms and company policy while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

* Serve as a customer interface for assigned agreements during the full life-cycle of a program. Support senior staff in interfacing with customers on high-profile agreements.

* Research issues of moderate complexity and provide recommendations for resolution.

* Assist with special projects that require significant skill, knowledge, and business acumen.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor s degree with 3-5 years of significant practice; practice in an Intellectual Property-intensive environment (e.g., engineering/technology company, technology transfer office).

* MA/MBA/JD preferred.

* Working knowledge and knowledge of contract types.

* Knowledge of both government and commercial contracting processes and considerations.

* Able to handle multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Able to quickly understand processes and ensure adherence to the same.

* Must be able to deploy a systematic approach to work, and must have an aptitude for performing work functions in a timely and well organized manner with limited oversight.

* Must be able to support senior CSPP staff in executive-level meetings.

* Must possess excellent problem solving and communication expertise that can be deployed to collaborate effectively with different functional teams on a variety of topics.

* Must be able to prosperously perform on assignments where errors in judgement or failure to achieve results would normally require a moderate expenditure of resources to rectify.

* Proficient in Excel and MS Word.

* Must have a deep knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP system.

* US Citizen with capability to attain a government clearance.
