JOB SUMMARY


Under the department of Pediatrics the Attending Physician VI (Neonatology – Hospitalist) provides clinical care and management of sick neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Responsibilities include supervising residents and medical students and participating in morning reports, as needed. Adheres to all federal, local, and department rules and regulations supporting Cook County Health & Hospital Systems (CCHHS).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

   » MD or DO from an accredited medical college, university or foreign equivalent
   » Valid License as a Physician in the State of Illinois or capability to obtain license two (2) weeks prior to starting employment
   » Must be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics by the date of hire
   » Valid Illinois Controlled Substance License or capability to obtain license two (2) weeks prior to starting employment
   » Valid licensure with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or eligible to obtain licensure two (2) weeks prior to starting employment
   » Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification by the date of hire
   » practice in the provision of clinical care to ill neonates in a level II NICU

   » expertise of the basic principles and practice of neonatology
   » expertise of the principles and methods of training medical staff to ensure standard care
   » capability to provide clinical care to ill neonates in the NICU
   » Excellent communication expertise both verbal and written
   » capability to maintain professional demeanor and composure when challenged
   » capability to train by presenting concepts and demonstrating tasks
   » capability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed
