adjunct/ASSOCIATE ADJUNCT PROFESSOR POSITION

The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for a full-time adjunct or Associate level Professor in the Adjunct series (non-tenure track). This position is a primarily teaching position with other University and Public Service tasks. income and title will be commensurate with the candidate’s practice and training.
practice and documented excellence in teaching complex human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology and/or pathophysiology are required, along with a PhD, EdD, or equivalent doctoral-level degree by time of hire. A DPT degree and/or license to practice physical therapy is highly desirable.
Teaching tasks will include curriculum development in the areas of human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology and/or pathophysiology for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, along with opportunities to teach anatomy for medical students in the School of Medicine. There will also be opportunities to teach advanced anatomy for students in the PhD in Rehabilitation Science program and physical therapist residents in the Orthopedic Residency program. Important components of the position will be the development of computer located and online educational content, and innovative approaches in teaching adult learners.
All faculty members are expected to develop an area of scholarship. Research practice in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology or education and/or the demonstrated capability to bring research questions and findings into teaching is highly desirable.
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) is a department in the School of Medicine, and has 22 core faculty members, 150 DPT graduate students, 2 Orthopedic Residents, 2 PhD students, and 46 volunteer clinical faculty members. The DPTRS also operates two large faculty practice clinics, and a Health and Wellness Center, with a total of 135 faculty and staff. The DPT program is a joint program with San Francisco State University, adding another 5 core faculty members.
