Position Description:
Theorem Geo Associates is a growing and multi-faceted consulting firm that provides managed services as well as IT, engineering, and strategic consulting for a variety of industries. Theorem Geo Associates is currently seeking a full-time Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst that will work directly in supporting the GIS and mapping needs for a major utility in Florida.

Essential tasks and Responsibilities

•The primary responsibilities of the position would include performing data collection, editing, mapping, and managing an accurate record of utility transmission and road right-of-way (ROW) siting which can coincide with land planning and development.
•Geospatially support team in a suite of mapping products used by multiple organizations
•Responsible for research and data processing, to include verifying, organizing, and the preparation of geospatial and asset data.
•Manage specific GIS information layers
•Transfer collected data onto GIS system/server using applicable software.
•Perform data entry and mapping tasks utilizing GIS technologies.
•Support staff regarding capabilities to meet GIS management needs.
This may include, but is not limited to the following processes within a GIS environment:
•Digitizing and georeferencing data to aid in the location, placement, and creation of features
•Creating and editing features and connected attributes
•The examination of legal documents connected with each ROW to determine the correct locations and attributes for each feature
•Making corrections to previously mapped ROW
There may also be opportunities to work on other projects that Theorem Geo is involved in, depending on the candidate's performance and current workload on the primary project.

Qualifications and practice

Education Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Sciences, or related field
•Exceptions on education can be made for exceptional candidates

Required practice:
•Minimum of four years of practice working in GIS with progressively responsible practice in the design and development of GIS systems and applications.
•Must have proficient practice working with ESRI Suite (including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcMap, ArcServer, ArcGIS Online)
•capability to adapt to new GIS software

Preferred expertise:
•Basic knowledge of the follow development Required languages
•Enterprise level database knowledge desired; such as ArcSDE or SQL database (Microsoft SQL Server is a plus)
•practice using MS Office Suite
•Computerized mapping and digital data conversion, manipulation and analysis
•GIS database administration and management principles, methods and techniques, including quality control methods and practices
•Principles and practices of GIS analysis and design
•practice with Autodesk/AutoCAD a strong plus
•Prior practice with some type of utility network, is preferred.
•Land planning and development practice is a plus
•Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and quality assurance of a utility network in an enterprise GIS environment a strong plus
•Environmental/Forestry background or practice
•practice working within a utility industry distribution and/or transmission program
•GIS Certifications
•Knowledge of, or practice with, work management software

Additional expertise
•Demonstrated capability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with the capability to effectively interface with both internal and external customers.
•Demonstrated capability to train and develop personnel on the use of GIS programs, processes, and procedures.
•Demonstrated capability to identify improvement opportunities and the initiative to implement change.
•Demonstrated organizational and time management expertise
•Demonstrated capability to organize multiple projects and be self-led
•capability to work both efficiently independently and cooperatively in a team environment
•Excellent problem-solving expertise
•Proficiency with data management, organization, a availability to learn, and capability to ask questions to obtain desired results if unclear of the task at hand.
•Valid state driver's license in good standing
