The Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Vice President of Research (EVPR). As a direct report to the President and a member of the President’s Cabinet, the EVPR serves as chief research agent for the Institute. This position provides overall leadership abilities for the research, economic development, and related support units within the Institute. This includes direct oversight of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), the Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), all Interdisciplinary Research Institutes and Centers (IRIs/IRCs), the Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC), and the Office of Industry Collaboration (OIC).  
This position serves as part of the Executive leadership abilities Team (ELT) with the President, the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance (EVPAF). Due to the inseparable relationship between research, economic development, and academic affairs, the EVPR works closely with and has a “dotted-line” reporting relationship directly to the Provost.
   » In collaboration with the Provostand the EVPAF, formulate, develop and implement the overall Institute strategy and plans that will guide the Institute's basic and applied research and development efforts.
   » In collaboration with the President, Provost, and the EVPAF, determine budgetary priorities, develop the Institute annual budget, and administer the EVPR designated budget.
   » Direct the formulation of the Institute's research and development policies and ensure policy is administered in a consistent manner.
   » Provide executive oversight, direction, and support to the continuing activities performed within the various research and research support units, including basic research, applied research, technology transfer and licensing, and research administration. The EVPR has oversight of the following organizational units: Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), the Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), Interdisciplinary Research Institutes and Centers (IRIs/IRCs), Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC), and Office of Industry Collaboration (OIC).
   » Lead the promotion and oversight of the Institute's research and development enterprisecapabilities to both internal and external audiences. This includes engagement with federal and state agencies as well as private sector constituents. Develop visibility as a leader guiding national and international research policies. Embrace and shape the growing entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem of Georgia Tech and the region.
   » Participate in Georgia Tech affiliated non-profit corporation boards, including, but not limited to, serving as board president for the Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC)/Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation (GTARC), and Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures (GATV).
   » Ensure Institute compliance with all regulations related to the use of external and internal funding to support research and supervise reporting of all connected expenditures.
   » Work closely with the Provost, Colleges, and research centers/institutes to ensure the recruitment of highly qualified research faculty/staff and the acquisition of world-class research facilities/equipment.
   » Serve as spokesperson to various external audiences on behalf of the Institute on matters related to research and economic development.
   » As a member of the President’s Cabinet and Executive leadership abilities Team, contribute to Institute-wide policy development and implementation through engagement with key academic and business executives.

   » A terminal degree in appropriate discipline represented within the Institute;
   » An outstanding record of scholarly achievement and an international reputation within the broader scholarly community, appropriate for appointment as full professor in one of the Colleges at Georgia Tech;
   » Ten or more years leadership abilities practice in research within higher education, government, and/or industry; and
   » Demonstrable success in the translation and adoption of research results.
