Computing and Information Science (CIS) is an academic unit that develops the core ideas of computation, data, and information, and enables these ideas to reach out to all disciplines, including the physical and biological sciences, engineering, the social sciences, and the arts and humanities. Its departments and research programs together form the scientific base for the emerging Information Age including the principles, technologies, and impacts of computation; the mathematics and methodology of data and data intensive applications; and the interface where people, and society and culture more broadly, interact with computing, information, and digital technology. CIS has a cross-college core research and teaching mission; incorporating cutting edge research into the curriculum is a priority. CIS units include Computer Science, Information Science Statistical Science and the Program of Computer Graphics.

The CIS Sponsored Research Administration Center (SRAC) delivers pre and post award research management and planning support to CIS Principal Investigators conducting interdisciplinary research ($17M annual sponsored expenditures; $11M faculty discretionary funds; $60M central/dept budget total). The typical CIS PI research profile is collaborative and multi-sponsored.

Listing description
The Senior Research Administrator (SRA) serves as team lead for pre and post award functions, supervises sponsor reporting, develops complex financial reports to meet PI/unit needs and sponsor guidelines, supports central and unit financial management and reporting. The SRA manages a designated portfolio of CIS PI sponsored awards, gifts and other funding, providing comprehensive post-award financial services, sponsored and gift funds management; analysis and reporting; financial accounting; compliance and stewardship of faculty resources. Working across multiple financial systems and software platforms, monitors, interprets, reports and resolves faculty financial issues, SRA responsibilities include:
   » Analyze sponsored award and gift requirements, developing financial reports and detailed forecasting to meet PI and unit needs as well as sponsor and compliance requirements.
   » Develop project staffing plans and review actual effort, coordinate subcontract administration, provide adhoc reports as needed.
   » Participate as a member of the CIS Finance Advisory team.
   » Mentor other SRAC pre/post award staff.
   » Develop reports/analyses to support short and longer term central CIS and unit planning.
   » Participate in central CIS and unit financial management and reporting.

Required Appropriate qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field and four to five years of financial and/or administrative practice or an equivalent combination of education and practice. Position requires demonstrated capability to:

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
5-7 years of financial/accounting management and office practice. Project management practice is preferred. practice with Cornell policies and procedures in the areas of grant and contract management, accounting, purchasing, and/or accounts payable. expertise and skills in the use of Cornell on-line systems: Kuali, Web Financials, ID&R Dashboards, OSP Portal. expertise and skills in use of sponsor systems such as NSF Fastlane,, ProposalCENTRAL.
