The Department of Anthropology and Sociology at Rhodes College invites applications for a one-year Visiting adjunct Professor position in Sociology for the 2018-2019 academic year, to begin in August 2018. Rhodes College is especially interested in attracting candidates from historically underrepresented groups and/or those with demonstrated commitment to working with diverse and historically underrepresented populations. We seek a broadly trained sociologist with teaching and/or research interests that include: race, community and urban sociology, health inequities, and/or quantitative methods. We encourage applications from individuals whose interests go beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries, and in particular from candidates who can contribute to one or more of the College's key interdisciplinary programs: Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Latin American Studies, and Urban Studies. Teaching responsibilities will include three courses each semester, including Introductory Sociology and upper division courses in the candidate's area of specialization. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in in Sociology or a closely-related interdisciplinary field by July 2018.
