Summary of tasks and Responsibilities
If you are a service-oriented team player who enjoys training and working with college students, exercises good decision-making expertise within time constraints, and can run an efficient and effective operation, the University Library is interested in you! The Iowa State University Library is seeking a Lending Coordinator (Library adjunct III) to run Resource Sharing Lending operations efficiently from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
This position will hire and train students on ILLiad software, scanners, and retrieving library items to fulfill typical OCLC and Rapid requests, while handling unique requests that are outside the norm. This position requires attention to detail when initiating invoices to borrowing libraries for lending charges and lost items, or for searching the stacks for an item student employees could not find on the shelf.
Candidates must be willing to do a variety of tasks, depending on the ebb and flow of student schedules and Access Services departmental needs. Some examples are performing student work to cover absences or gaps, a regularly scheduled rotation at the Research Help Desk to answer questions and provide basic reference assistance, learning other functions of Resource Sharing such as Document Delivery and Borrowing, and assisting other Access Services units in covering service points or performing project work.
The prosperous candidate will possess strong time-management and organization expertise, and the capability to switch tasks with ease, depending on workflow and department needs.
