The everyday Republic, a 10,000-circulation, six-day everyday newspaper with 140,000 monthly online users, is seeking a reporter for its cops and courts beat.
candidates should have a journalism degree and a desire to write about the news, trends and people in the criminal justice system. candidates should also have worked for their college newspaper or have some practice in the field.
We are a regional newspaper with a 17-county coverage area that includes the city of Mitchell, lots of farming and ranching communities and three American Indian reservations. Our cops and courts reporter covers everything from fires to trials and is expected to glean story ideas from civil and criminal case files.
The everyday Republic was named the Sweepstakes winner each of the last five years in the South Dakota Newspaper Association Better Newspapers Contest. We have an outstanding news staff that works hard and fills each edition with local content to bring out readers a strong product.
