The Kennebec Journal seeks an accomplished city editor to direct the newsroom for the Augusta area's everyday newspaper. Qualifications include the capability to plan for and shape compelling community journalism with a team of reporters and photographers; help produce aggressive watchdog and enterprise stories; treat breaking news with urgency and enthusiasm while pushing content online; and look for new ways to tell stories with digital elements such as video, slideshows and databases. The job also requires excellent writing and editing expertise with a proven capability to work with reporters on story development and completion, holding staff to high standards while treating them with respect and professionalism. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with other editors, finding ways of making local stories appealing to both a regional and state audience. everyday newspaper practice in a managery capacity is required.
