The Nebraska Food for Health Center (NFHC) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for a position as a tenure-track adjunct Professor in Nutritional/Clinical Epidemiology. We are seeking for motivated individuals to develop a high-impact research program that emphasizes population-located approaches to define factors that influence individualized responses to dietary components in humans. Candidates interested in epidemiologic factors influencing metabolism and/or features of the gut microbiome are especially encouraged to apply. The candidate will work closely with a highly-interdisciplinary team of NFHC faculty to study responsiveness of healthy and disease populations to dietary modulation with specific food components. In the context of collaborative NFHC projects, the candidate will contribute to study design, implementation, and analysis/interpretation of the corresponding multi-dimensional data sets. More information about the position can be found at the NFHC website (https://foodforhealth.unl.edu/open-positions).

The university and department are strongly committed to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of under-represented groups and strongly encourage women and persons of color to apply for this position.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Data and Computational Sciences, or other significant field.

Preferred qualifications included demonstrated practice in human clinical studies and/or population-located study involving multi-dimensional data sets that include nutritional/dietary data and clinical or biomedical measurements. Evidence of a strong publication record, demonstrated success or potential for obtaining funding, excellent communication expertise, and practice working and leading multi-disciplinary teams are preferred. prosperous candidates will join a team of NFHC faculty from diverse disciplines across the University of Nebraska System that are united by the NFHC discovery-translation research platform. This platform links discovery of molecular components in food crops that can influence composition/function of the gut microbiome with translational study of emerging candidates in animal models and human populations.

UNL is a land grant institution with a strong commitment to research, teaching, outreach, and service. UNL is a Carnegie Foundation “Doctoral Universities: Highest Research Activity” university and is committed to further strengthening its research standing.

For consideration, candidates must complete the online faculty form and submit application materials at http://employment.unl.edu/postings/56973. The following attachments will be required: 1) A letter of interest with statements on research plans and teaching philosophy; 2) CV with contact information for three references; 3) Cover letter, and 4) PDFs of up to five significant publications (must be combined into one document).

Review of applications will begin January 15, 2018, and continue until the position has been filled. Inquiries regarding the position or the application process should be directed to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Tricia LeVan, E-Mail: tlevan@unmc.edu.
